Central Park Horse and Carriage Tour in New York NY

There is nothing more romantic or charming than seeing Central Park from the back of a horse-drawn carriage. The feeling of stepping back a little in time is one never to be forgotten. Sitting shoulder to shoulder beside the person you love as you meander through the most beautiful park in Manhattan, wondering if he or she planned for the stars to come out early is one of the most whimsical of lover's dreams. The soft jostle of the carriage rocking to the gait of the horse ahead and the gentle sound of hooves on pavement are a balm to the soul you will feel as your guide points out several popular and some secret places of NYC's crown jewel of parks. If you have eyes only for the person beside you, ignore the guide. He won't mind at all.

Central Park Sightseeing's prearranged horse and carriage rides allow up to four adults per carriage. We will try to accommodate all the sights you wish to see and more. Perfect for any family outing or a birthday party for your prince or princess of any age. They will see the park with new eyes forever more and maybe keep that magic within them for so much longer than the 45 minutes of the average carriage ride.

However, an increasingly popular favorite is the single-person carriage ride. Sit back and relax in the privacy and safety of your personal carriage as your guide shows you New York’s Central Park as you have always wished to see it. Take your time, have fun and ‘play tourist’ – even if you aren’t one.

Each Carriage can take up to 4 adults or 3 adults and 2 kids under 12 years old

Museums

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York NY

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is a non-profit, educational institution featuring the legendary aircraft carrier Intrepid, the space shuttle Enterprise, the world’s fastest jets and a guided missile submarine. Through exhibitions, educational programming and the foremost collection of technologically groundbreaking aircraft and vessels, visitors of all ages and abilities are taken on an interactive journey through history to learn about American innovation and bravery.

The Intrepid Museum was founded in 1982 with the acquisition of the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid, now a National Historic Landmark, which served tours of duty in World War II and the Vietnam War, and was a recovery vessel for the Gemini and Mercury space missions.

Permanent exhibits include:

Aircraft Carrier Intrepid
Launched in 1943, the former aircraft carrier USS Intrepid fought in World War II, surviving five kamikaze attacks and one torpedo strike. The ship later served in the Cold War and the Vietnam War. Intrepid also served as a NASA recovery vessel in the 1960s. It was decommissioned in 1974, and today is berthed on the Hudson River as the centerpiece of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

Space Shuttle Pavilion
The Space Shuttle Pavilion showcases the space shuttle Enterprise, the prototype NASA orbiter that paved the way for America’s successful space shuttle program. Seventeen dynamic exhibit zones feature original artifacts, photographs, audio, and films that immerse visitors in the science and history of Enterprise and the space shuttle era.

Submarine Growler
The former USS Growler first opened at the Intrepid Museum in 1989 and is the only American guided missile submarine open to the public. Growler offers museum visitors a firsthand look at life aboard a submarine and a close-up inspection of the once "top-secret" missile command center. Access is available to the various compartments as they were used during operations.

British Airways Concorde
The fastest Atlantic crossing by any Concorde occurred on February 7, 1996 and took only 2 hours, 52 minutes, and 59 seconds. This record-breaking plane — the Concorde Alpha Delta G-BOAD — is yours to explore at Intrepid Museum complex on Pier 86.

Please note you will need to print out your voucher and bring the hard copy to the Will Call Desk at the box office in exchange for a ticket. Please note last admission to the submarine Growler is one hour before the Museum closes.

Twisted Statue Tour: Under the Skirt of Lady Liberty in New York NY

This is New York’s funniest and most insightful tour to the Statue of Liberty; giving you to the stories, rumors, legends that you won’t hear anywhere else. Want to know about the other tragedy on the day of JFK’s assassination (the one that involved a giant octopus)? Or what our guides ‘affectionately’ call Lady Liberty behind her back? Then this is your tour.

You’ll meet at Battery Park, home to a beer garden/immigration station, as well as a graphic plaque given to the city of New York by the Dutch to remind us that they stole Manhattan first. With a small group of 25 people or fewer and an expert local guide (carefully vetted for his/her sense of fun), you’ll board the ferry to Liberty Island.

During the crossing, they will regale you with some of the most outlandish stories of Lower Manhattan. First and foremost is the tale of a ferry sinking that killed 400. In the wreckage authorities found the markings of what looked like huge suction cups on the side of the boat, pointing to an unlikely culprit. Is this the twisted story NY’s port authorities are hiding from you or is it a complete fabrication? The photographic evidence held by your guide is pretty convincing...

When you reach Liberty Island you’ll have special access to climb up to the Statue pedestal, via a stairway (or elevator) inside the structure. Climb under the skirts of Lady Liberty to marvel at her cavernous interior and hear the story of how she was made. Naturally, this won’t be the polite version from the history books. Instead you’ll learn how her creator was a little dramatic and didn’t always love Americans; how many Americans cared even less for his statue and weren’t interested in paying for the pedestal that you’re standing on (which eventually cost more than the statue itself); how her torch started out as little more than a flicker of light; and how many birds lost their lives because of it. You’ll also learn how the statue went from being little known and less cared for, to an icon of the American people, used to advertise everything from immigration and patriotism, to laxatives and cocaine.

After enjoying this eye-opening, hilarious, and eventually inspirational story, you’ll step outside for views from the pedestal that reach over the harbor and encompass much of Lower Manhattan - the perfect selfie spot.

Your guided tour ends here but your day doesn’t have to. With all-inclusive tickets valid for the rest of the day, you can take the ferry onto Ellis Island to explore the lovely museum by yourself and get even more information about the history of this hallowed stretch of the harbor. The museum here is so well-curated, with videos, audio, and huge photographic exhibits; you won’t need your guide at all.

Stories from the Dark Side: Criminals, Gangs & Mafia with NYPD Guide in New York NY

Take to the streets of New York with the men and women who know them best. For 2.5 hours you’ll walk the Big Apple with a retired NYPD officer or detective, exploring neighborhoods once home to notorious criminals, learning how the city was ruled in waves by various immigrant crime rings, and finding out what modern crime looks like in the city.

On the Lower East Side, you’ll see tenement buildings where Irish immigrants lived in subhuman conditions. The most notorious area here was the ‘Five Points’ - a junction so infamous for its gang crime (rumor has it some even lived in burrows under the streets!) that Charles Dickens came to check it out himself on a trip to NYC, not believing it could live up to its status. It did, of course, as your guide will tell you.
Irish gangs weren’t the only group to terrorise the Lower East Side however. Throughout the 1900s the Italian mafia kept Little Italy in a choke hold, while the 1970s and 1980s were dominated by Chinese turf wars so bloody, you’ll hardly believe it.

From the city’s earliest rag-tag gangs to the mafia empires of the 20th century, you’ll separate the truth from from myths popularized by movies like Gangs of New York and TV shows like The Sopranos. You’ll also learn about the city’s most notorious criminals; from Captain Kidd and Boss Tweed, to John Gotti and Leona Helmsley. The neighborhoods you visit are much nicer today than they were in the past but has NYC really cleaned up its act? As part of your tour you’ll visit lower Manhattan, in particular Wall Street and the Financial District, to learn about modern, white collar crime (and the going rate for a get-out-of-jail-free card).

New York City crime tours don’t get any better than when they are lead by retired NYPD police officers and detectives. Having spent a lifetime walking these streets, chasing criminals of all creeds, these guides will teach you about incredible, historic scandals but also intersperse your tour with their own personal anecdotes and insights: For a much more personal experience.

Turning on Lenox Avenue/Malcolm X Boulevard to 124th Street and into the Mount Morris Park Historic District. This area was designated in 1971, by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission as a historic district. Being one of the earliest landmarked districts in the five boroughs, and recently extended in 2015 to include an additional six blocks in Central Harlem.
Going north from West 118th to West 124th Streets and West from Fifth Avenue to Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard (7th Avenue) Mount Morris Park Historic District showcases a remarkable blend of late 19th and early 20th century residential and church architecture associated with the Gilded Age.

The oldest buildings in the historic district are three from 1870 Second Empire Style row houses with mansard roofs at 124 to 128 West 123rd Street. The well-known "Doctors' Row" built by William Tuthill the architect of Carnegie Hall in New York City commonly known as West 122nd Street, Mount Morris Park West, and Malcolm X Blvd., all demonstrate the remarkable survival of substantially unaltered 19th-century streetscapes, rare in most areas of Manhattan.

Notable past and present residents of the area are Broadway composers Richard Rogers, Oscar Hammerstein II and Lorenz Hart, poet Maya Angelo, chef Marcus Samuelsson, photographer James Van Der Zee and politician Richard Croker, Sr., to name a few.

Once the walking tour comes to a close you will be treated to a lunch at a local Harlem restaurant.

NYC In A Day: Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, West Village, High Line & Wall Street in New York NY

Your day starts in Lower Manhattan where you’ll meet your friendly, expert guide and a small group of (maximum) 20 people. Things start on a somber, but ultimately uplifting note at the 9/11 Memorial and One World Trade Center where you’ll learn about a dark hour in New York City’s history and also how the city has rebuilt and come back even stronger. Then, it’s off to the Financial District to visit Wall Street and learn about the highs and lows of life on the New York Stock Exchange.

Next, catch a New York Water Taxi for a harbor cruise. With your guide on hand to point out the sights, you’ll get the same views of New York as many of the city’s early immigrants did as they sailed in from the Old World. This is hands down the best way to see the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty up close while hearing the incredible stories behind their constructions.

After disembarking, it's time for lunch. Catch a shuttle to Midtown Manhattan and stop at City Kitchen for something to eat (this food market is as diverse as NYC itself, with offers ranging from tacos to lobster or sushi. Lunch is not included so the choice is yours). Then it’s time to pound the pavement.

Midtown Manhattan is where you’ll find all the iconic sights of the city. With your guide at the helm, you’ll explore Times Square, Rockefeller Center, St Patrick’s Cathedral, and Grand Central Terminal. Strolling with a local means you’ll find secret nooks and crannies like the Whispering Arch at Grand Central, and hear all the local legends.

Lastly, it's time to explore the Empire State Building. With pre-reserved priority passes you’ll skip most of the lines here and head up to the observation deck on the dizzying 86th floor. You’ll enjoy this part of your tour alone (your guide will leave you at the entrance) so you can spend as much time as you like looking out over the city, soaking up your bird’s eye view of all the sights you have spent the day seeing.

Met Express: Highlights of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2 Hours in New York NY

Perfect for those on a short trip, or traveling with children, see the best of the Met in just 2 hours! Our carefully planned itinerary covers the perfect cross-section of the Met collection – from an ancient Egyptian Temple, to Roman frescoes, to paintings by van Gogh & Monet, to elegant Tiffany windows and more.
Easily one of the best art museum in the world, with works spanning 6 continents and over 6,000 years, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is so vast you could easily spend days inside. If you don’t have days to spare, our Met Express Tour cuts to the core, taking you straight to the collection’s highlights in just 2 hours.

The vastness of the Met collection is what makes it special, so we’ve carefully planned an itinerary to show you a broad spectrum of art, sculpture, jewels, artifacts and even architecture. Traveling in small groups of 15 people or fewer, with an expert guide, you’ll traverse the globe without leaving Central Park.

Our tour starts in Ancient Egypt, beholding perfectly preserved ancient Egyptian tomb models. See tiny dioramas that show what life was like in the times of Tutankhamen and learn about the fascinating burial rituals of the era. You’ll understand a little more of this at our next stop, Egyptian mummies and “William,” the Met’s “mascot.” Next, onto a prize jewel of the Met Museum, the Temple of Dendur, an Ancient Egyptian Temple right smack in the middle of Central Park. New York City can thank Jackie O for helping procure this magnificent work, as rumor has it, for cultural and personal reasons. Your guide will give the gossip along with the art.

More rumors abound at two of the next pieces we see – the armor of Britain’s infamous King Henry VIII, and the Antioch Chalice, purported by some as, ‘The Holy Grail.”

We’ll see more ancient works of Greek statuary and Roman frescoes before moving to the exotic, with a stop in Papua New Guinea. The Met houses a number of beautifully carved Bisj poles, collected by a Rockefeller – at the cost of his life. We’ll then head to the second floor to soak in some of Claude Monet’s famous Water Lillies, be energized by the expressive works of Vincent Van Gogh, and be inspired by a bronze of Rodin’s Thinker.

Our tour ends with a bang, an ascent to the rooftop garden (May–Oct only, weather permitting), to enjoy one of our favorite views of New York City. You’ll gaze across the green of Central Park, framed by the city skyline. At the conclusion of the tour, you’re welcome to linger on the rooftop and enjoy a snack or drink from the garden café, happy in the knowledge that you’ve seen the best of the Met in just 2 hours.

One World Observatory & World Trade Center Tour in New York NY

Standing tall and proud on the site of the 9/11 attacks, One World Trade Center is a testament to a city that was knocked down and got back up again. Get to the heart of that terrible tragedy and learn how NYC rebuilt itself bigger, better and stronger on our guided 9/11 Memorial Tour. With small groups of only 20 people or fewer, your tour will be intimate and your local tour guide easy to interact with.

You’ll start out at St. Paul’s Chapel with a more personal insight into the drama that unfolded here. This was where families and friends came to pray, offer support and await news in the immediate aftermath of the attacks; as testified by the hand-drawn cards and memorials, personal memorabilia and photographs that still hang here.

On next to some sites you may have missed visiting on your own. With a local guide leading the way, you’ll see special spots away from the major landmarks. One such site is the American Express 11 Tears Memorial; a strikingly personal tribute to the 11 American Express employees that lost their lives on September 11. Plus the beautiful Winter Garden, destroyed in the attack and now restored to its former glory.

At the 9/11 Memorial too, your guide will make your visit that bit more special. Together you’ll see the Twin Reflecting Pools, built in the footprints of the World Trade Center and engraved with the names of every victim. Learn the little nuances that make it more touching; like how staff place a single rose in the name of each victim on their birthday. Visit the Fireman’s Memorial to pay tribute to those brave men and women who worked around the clock after the attacks. See the Survivor’s Tree, a single tree which miraculously survived the attacks and was nursed back to health by New Yorkers, as a symbol of their enduring strength.

The highlight of your tour comes at the end with a visit to the brand new One World Observatory. With pre-reserved tickets your visit is guaranteed to go ahead regardless of the how large the crowds are. There’s not much explanation needed here so your guide will leave you for an independent visit.

Inside the lobby you’ll find videos about the production of this incredible structure - said to be the strongest in the world - and of the men and women who built it. Then board a ‘skypod’ to travel through time AND space. Created in association with Universal Studios, the special ‘skypod’ elevators are covered inside in LCD screens, on which you’ll watch the changing face of New York from the 1600s to today while ascending 102 floors in just 42 seconds. Disembark at the top of One World Observatory for incredible panoramic views over NYC. What better way to end a day of looking back with a glance into the future.

- Please Note: St Paul's Chapel is closed on Tuesdays & Thursdays for renovations for the foreseeable future and may also be closed on other dates. On the days when St. Paul's Chapel is closed, we will tour the grounds and substitute our inside visit for additional sites important to the events of 9/11 but not normally covered on the tour.

Part (generous) lunch, part trip through the soul of a neighborhood, your tour is as much about understanding the history and culture that produced your food as it is about enjoying it. Hear the story of how the “South Village” section of Greenwich Village developed from a lower-class Italian immigrant community to a modern day food mecca; understand the subtle (and not-so-subtle) differences between Italian-American food and Italian-Italian food; and learn to pick the best ingredients for cooking both styles at home.

With small groups of no more than 15 people, your tour will be intimate and your local foodie guide will have time to answer all your questions and give you insider insights about the city. Be sure to get recommendations for restaurants that suit your tastes & hotel location. With so many tastings included, don’t forget to come hungry!

911 Memorial Tours

9/11 Memorial and Museum Tour in New York NY

Everyone remembers where they were on September 11, 2001. An event that shook the world, the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center changed the path of recent history in a way we still see every day. Visit Ground Zero to gain a deeper understanding of 9/11, the affect it had on the city (and the world!) and the long struggle undergone in New York City to move forward from that day.

With an expert local guide, you’ll explore not just the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, but the areas and landmarks around the World Trade Center that featured so poignantly in news reports after the attacks. Traveling in small groups, you’ll visit St. Paul’s Chapel, where friends and families gathered to hear news of their loved ones, and where handmade prayers and memorials still lie.

At Brookfield Place (previously known as the World Financial Center) you’ll learn about the economic effects of the attack and the struggle to rebuild afterwards. You’ll visit the Eleven Tears Memorial, a touching and personal memorial, which commemorates the 11 American Express employees that died in 9/11. The Winter Garden is another must-see on Vesey Street. You may have missed it on your own, but with a local guide leading the way, you won’t miss a beat.

After that we’ll head for Ground Zero, to see the stunning 9/11 Memorial Pools, each one built in the footprint of one of the twin towers, and inscribed with the names of all those who perished in the attack. Your guide will take this time to give you a more personal account of the tragedy that unfolded here, taking you to the Fireman’s Memorial and the Survivor Tree to tell you the incredible stories of courage and loss that unfolded right where you stand.

The last stop on our tour is one we’ll let you manage on your own. The 9/11 Museum is a very well curated space, with artifacts salvaged from the event on display, alongside countless personal stories. It’s a very moving visit, best taken in at your own pace in silence. We still have one last perk though – we’ve pre-reserved your museum tickets, so you’ll skip long lines to gain immediate access.

We’ve kept our groups small for this tour to ensure a level of intimacy and peace that’s fitting for such a visit, and have chosen only the best local guides to give your tour a more personal feel, giving the 9/11 Memorial and its surrounds a more human context.

Notes:
• Please note that guests will need to pass through airport style security to enter the 9/11 Memorial Museum. Certain items are not permitted in the Museum and such items will be confiscated and will not be returned. Please refer to 9/11 Museum's guidelines on specific prohibited items: http://www.911memorial.org/security-screening.
• 9/11 Memorial Museum entry is at 5pm and is non-guided. An average visit takes approximately two hours.
• Please note that the tour meeting time is 15 minutes prior to the start time. We want you to join us, however we cannot delay the departure of a group tour for a guest who is running late.
St Paul's Chapel is closed on Tuesdays & Thursdays for renovations and may also be closed on other dates. On the days when St. Paul's Chapel is closed, we will tour the grounds and substitute our inside visit for additional sites important to the events of 9/11 but not normally covered on the tour.
• Gratuities to guides are appreciated but never obligatory

Museum of the City of New York in New York NY

The Museum of the City of New York celebrates and interprets the city, educating the public about its distinctive character, especially its heritage of diversity, opportunity, and perpetual transformation. Founded in 1923 as a private, nonprofit corporation, the Museum connects the past, present, and future of New York City. It serves the people of New York and visitors from around the world through exhibitions, school and public programs, publications, and collections.

Our History:
The Museum of the City of New York was founded in 1923 by Henry Collins Brown, a Scottish-born writer with a vision for a populist approach to the city. The Museum was originally housed in Gracie Mansion, the future residence of the Mayor of New York. Hardinge Scholle succeeded Henry Brown in 1926 and began planning a new home for the Museum. The City offered land on Fifth Avenue on 103rd-104th Streets and construction for Joseph H. Freedlander’s Georgian Colonial-Revival design for the building started in 1929 and was completed in 1932. During the next few decades, the Museum amassed a considerable collection of exceptional items, including several of Eugene O’Neill’s handwritten manuscripts, a complete room of Duncan Phyfe furniture, 412 glass negatives taken by Jacob Riis and donated by his son, a man’s suit worn to George Washington’s Inaugural Ball, and the Carrie Walter Stettheimer dollhouse, which contains a miniature work by Marcel Duchamp. Today the Museum’s collection contains approximately 750,000 objects, including prints, photographs, decorative arts, costumes, paintings, sculpture, toys, and theatrical memorabilia.

Brownstone Brooklyn Heights & DUMBO Walking Tour in Brooklyn NY

Experience two of Brooklyn's top neighborhoods back-to-back: historic Brooklyn Heights, and trendy DUMBO. It will be a walk through time as we journey through 200 years in just 2 hours: from stately townhomes of the 1800's to cutting-edge loft buildings of the modern day. The two neighborhoods are adjacent to each other, and are bonded like a long-married couple - perfect for a double-header tour!

Brooklyn Heights - Brooklyn Heights is a leafy neighborhood of brownstone town houses. Its serene, tree-lined streets hold centuries of profound history.

In Brooklyn Heights, we meander through the borough’s oldest area – known as ‘America’s first suburb’. We admire outstanding architecture of landmarked homes, buildings and churches while learning about Brooklyn's history. We discover the stories and events through which the face of America was shaped by what was once its 3rd largest city. See beautiful homes which once housed rich and important communities – now gentrified and upscale again. Can you guess which famous writers once lived in leafy Brooklyn Heights?

DUMBO - Brooklyn's once-quiet waterfront has been renewed into one of NYC's most modern hip neighborhoods. DUMBO stands for "Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass" and is situated between the towering Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. Its cobblestone streets are lined with trendy boutiques and galleries. These shops are located in repurposed former warehouses and factories, which have been converted for residential use too. Listen closely to learn the secret origin of this artsy neighborhood’s quirky name!
Also expect to enjoy outstanding views of the city skyline, harbor and bridges.

We start our tour in the ancient world, with a visit to Ancient Egyptian tomb models. Incredibly well preserved, these pieces were a more important discovery than they seem, as they offered pictorial insight into what life in Ancient Egypt was like. This insight continues at the incredible Temple of Dendur, fully intact and surreally displayed inside a naturally lit atrium, nestled in Central Park.

Our world tour returns to New York for stained glass by Tiffany and then hops over to Britain to size up the armor of notorious King Henry VIII. We then head east for the Antioch Chalice, believed by some to be the Holy Grail itself, the cup from which Jesus drank on the night he was betrayed. Believe the story? You’ll have time to debate its merits with your expert guide. For historians our next few stops are a true delight – the Greek and Roman wing contain elegant statues, imperial Roman busts, and intact frescos buried along with those at Pompeii. Off to exotic Oceania to see boldly carved Bisj poles from Papua New Guinea, for which a Rockefeller gave his life. We’ll then moveto the second floor to admire Water Liliesby Monet, a Thinker by Rodin, and the swirling strokes of van Gogh. It’s break time inside the museum or atop the rooftop garden (May-October only, weather permitting) for verdant vistas of Central Park.

If you’ve booked the extended version, the tour continues to the Golden Age of Dutch painting, perusing portraits by Rembrandt and marveling at the virtuosity of Vermeer. After a brief passage through Italy, it’s off to Spain to see El Greco and to France for Jacques-Louis David’s famous
.Death of Socrates
. A little scandal is in store, as your guide gives the inside story of John Singer Sargent’s infamous Madame X
. You’ll then be dwarfed by the immense iconic Washington Crossing the Delaware – one of the most recognized paintings in the United States.

Besides from what’s listed here, you’ll see little surprises and quirks of the collection as you tour. Our small group and expert guides will allow you to ask questions, be engaged, and take the most from your Met experience!

VIP Manhattan Nightlife and Speakeasy Limo Tour in New York NY

What if you could have the ultimate night out in NYC without having to deal with the hassle of logistics, door fees, and snooty doormen? Now you can, and we’re throwing in a limo to make it extra-VIP.

Your night starts at Union Square, where your limo driver picks you up along with a small group of no more than 13 other like-minded party goers. You’ll also meet your host for the night, a local NYC nightlife insider who is on hand to keep the party going. In the limo, you’ll pop the bubbly and get to know each other so that when you pull up at the first venue you’ll be ready to party like old friends.

Throughout the night your guide will take you to three separate spots chosen from a revolving list of rooftop bars, speakeasies, live music venues, and dance clubs. The itinerary is never set until the last minute so we can ensure we’re visiting the best spots for that specific evening. Because of our personal relationships with the doormen, you’ll never wait in line or pay trumped up cover charges; just breeze in and enjoy the drinks, the music, and the ambiance.

Our night ends around 12:30 am but you will be free to keep drinking and dancing at the last venue - usually a club - until whatever time you want. If you’re looking to go farther afield your host will be happy to provide you with recommendations for other bars and clubs in the area.

Disney on Broadway: Behind the Magic with New Amsterdam Theatre in New York NY

For Broadway lovers and Disney fans, there’s no better experience than this new, exclusive access tour. Created in collaboration with Disney Theatrical Group, this tour takes you behind the magic at the New Amsterdam Theatre; entering when the theatre is closed for a special guided tour.

Spend a full hour with the in-house historian, learning about the history of this incredible building. You’ll have the place to yourself so you can visit the first floor and balcony levels, admiring the vast stage as your guide describes what goes into the creation and performance of a Broadway production like ‘Beauty & The Beast’, ‘Mary Poppins’, ‘Aladdin’ and ‘The Lion King’. You’ll hear stories of the goings-on behind the scenes and learn about the superstitions held by Broadway performers — including a few ghost stories.

The highlight of your experience is in the second part of your New Amsterdam tour. You’ll visit the Prop Studio, where you’ll find treasures untold, getting up close and personal with original props, costumes and set piece for many of your favorite Disney on Broadway musicals.
* Between January 2017 and July of 2018, the costume and prop access will be restored via a mobile cart brought into the orchestra section of the theatre.

While we do spend a lot of time on the Disney element of our tour (you’ll hear audio recordings from shows and learn lots of fun Disney trivia), we don’t just stop there: This is a proper Broadway tour.

To ensure that you get a full picture of Broadway and that you have as much context as possible when you visit the New Amsterdam, you’ll take a guided tour of Broadway before your visit, stopping at landmark theatres where legendary shows drew huge crowds and global attention. For this section of your tour, you’ll travel with one of our Broadway Insiders, a team drawn from a bank of actors, crew members, and even theatre managers — all of whom have first-hand experience of life behind the curtain.

Discover the unlikely origins of Times Square and hear the rags-to-riches tale of NYC’s theatre district (and how Disney was instrumental in changing the fate of a notorious red light district). Learn of the legendary Ziegfeld Follies which kick started Broadway production as we know it, not to mention the careers of so many legendary performers. You’ll also visit Sardi’s to see the famous character portraits, learning about the on and off-screen shenanigans of Broadway’s biggest names.

With your Broadway Insider guide, you’ll see the most popular cast hangouts and identify the most important theatres — in both a historic sense and from a theatrical and musical standpoint. You’ll hear stories you’ll hardly be able to believe (like how a goat once fell from the roof of one of these very theatres) and get a grasp of just how colossal a Broadway production is; how much blood and sweat goes into every performance and how many people there are behind the scenes and in the wings every time the curtain rises.

Like a theatre director on opening night, you can rest assured that we’ve taken painstaking care over the little details on this tour. We’ve chosen only the best guides to join our Broadway Insiders team and have drawn up the perfect route to showcase the very best of showbiz, combining the magic of Disney and the glamor of Broadway into one epic behind-the-magic adventure.

Intro to Queens Walking Tour in Long Island City in Long Island City NY

Welcome to Queens – a most diverse place on the earth!

Queens is the largest of NYC’s boroughs, and it’s the most diverse. Half of the population is foreign born!

Delve into Queens with an excursion through Long Island City – one of NYC’s hottest new neighborhoods. In recent years this rapidly-growing district has been revealed as a blooming gem. A transformation is deep underway, and it’s astonishing: a vast forgotten industrial zone being revitalized from the ground up - turning into a top place to live, work and play. Old factories and infrastructure are now giving way to parks, hi-rise towers, and cultural institutions. This Queens neighborhood is the #1 place of construction in New York City.

Experience Long Island City’s unique vibe on a walk through the neighborhood. Feel the scale of the infrastructure that defines western Queens – a maze of tracks, bridges, and trains. Then see raw industry transition into sleek modern housing. Check out established and newly budding cultural institutions. Stroll through one of the NYC’s top urban parks, and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of Midtown Manhattan. Plus discover a secret, unexpected urban oasis!

Take this all in while learning about the area’s history (a tale of boom-and-bust industry); and the extent of its current urban renewal. Can you guess which common supermarket product has left an indelible impact on the revitalized waterfront?

By the end of this tour, you will have experienced a unique off-the-beaten-track district just minutes from Manhattan; and you will have discovered why Queens is quickly and quietly becoming the new cool!

Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in and present voucher to your tour guide. Tour runs rain or shine.

Early Access Statue of Liberty Tour with Ellis Island

Statue of Liberty Tours

Early Access Statue of Liberty Tour with Ellis Island in New York NY

Meet NYC’s most famous lady up close and in person on our Early Access Statue of Liberty Tour.

We’ll start our tour with a little context, visiting the sites around Battery Park. The memorials here rarely get the attention they deserve, from visitors rushing past to board the ferry. The stories they have to tell are well worth hearing though, so we’ll spare some time for the Castle Clinton National Monument, Pier A Harbor House, the American Merchant Mariner’s Memorial, the Sphere and New York Korean War Veteran’s Memorial.

Then it’s off to Liberty Island, with priority boarding to get us the best seats on the ferry – and since we leave so early (often on the first ferry, depending on the time of year) you’ll arrive at the Statue before the crowds. Once there, you’ll enjoy stunning views back over the city and a guided tour that takes you right into the pedestal, getting you closer to Lady Liberty than a regular visit.

Here your guide will teach you a little about the city’s greatest icon. Gifted to the US by France and designed by their finest architects including Gustav Eiffel (whose Parisian Tower you may be familiar with), Lady Liberty wasn’t as warmly received as you would think. With your expert guide on hand, you’ll hear all about the struggle that got her on her feet and made her even more special to the people of New York.

Then it’s back on the ferry and on to Ellis Island, where you’ll follow in the footsteps of 12 million immigrants. With your expert guide on hand you’ll learn about the lengthy immigration process they went through, walking the Stairs of Separation to understand the island’s two very different names – ‘The Island of Hope’ and ‘The Island of Tears’. Together you’ll explore the museum’s impressive collection of interactive displays, asking all the questions you want of your expert guide. Our tour ends in Ellis Island, so you can stay a little longer if you’d like, or head back on the ferry with your guide.

With small groups of 20 people or fewer and early morning ferries to the islands, we ensure that your tour is peaceful and relaxed, removing the stress and frustrations of the average visit. And with an expert guide on hand you’re certain to learn a thing or two, getting more from your experience than you would have on your own.
Notes:
• Please note this tour does not include a visit to the Statue of Liberty's Crown, due to security measures in place by the National Park Services who manage the Statue of Liberty.

• Tour participants must be able to climb and descend 215 stairs from the Statue lobby to the top of the pedestal.

• Please note that guests will need to pass through airport style security to enter the Statue of Liberty. Certain items are not permitted in the Statue of Liberty and such items will be confiscated and will not be returned. Please refer to the Statue of Liberty’s guidelines on specific prohibited items: http://www.nps.gov/stli/planyourvisit/yoursafety.htm

• Please be aware that upon arrival at Liberty Island, if you are carrying a backpack or large bags you are required to put your bag/s into a locker which costs $2.00 in bills only (no coins accepted). Please be sure to have dollar bills for the lockers.

• The ferry does not operate during heavy rain or other adverse weather conditions; when this occurs, an alternative option is provided.

Standing tall and proud on the site of the 9/11 attacks, One World Center is a testament to a city that was knocked down and got back up again. Get to the heart of that terrible tragedy and learn how NYC rebuilt itself bigger, better and stronger on our guided tour.

One such site is the American Express 11 Tears Memorial; a strikingly personal tribute to the 11 AmEx employees that lost their lives on September 11.

• This tour does not include the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
• Please note you will need to pass through airport style security to enter One World Observatory, and unavoidable lines can build up as people pass through security.
• Observatory entry is at 5pm. Average length of visit is 1 hour.
• Please note the ferry does not operate during heavy rain or other adverse weather conditions; when this occurs, an alternative option is provided.
• St Paul's Chapel is closed on Tuesdays & Thursdays for renovations for the foreseeable future and may also be closed on other dates. On the days when St. Paul's Chapel is closed, we will tour the grounds and substitute our inside visit for additional sites important to the events of 9/11 but not normally covered on the tour.

Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island And 9/11 Memorial & Museum Tour in New York NY

Take an early ferry to Liberty Island (arriving before the crowds!) for a guided tour with special statue pedestal access.

Enjoy a guided tour of historic Ellis Island immigration center and museum, following in the footsteps of 12 million immigrants.
Visit the 9/11 Memorial and surrounding areas (including St. Paul’s Cathedral), learning about the tragic events of that infamous day from a local perspective.

With pre-arranged tickets at the 9/11 Memorial Museum, you’ll avoid long lines. Because this space is so well curated (and best enjoyed in peace) we’ll leave you to enjoy it on your own.

With a well-planned itinerary, pre-reserved tickets and special access to the ferry, we’ve thought of everything – so you can relax and enjoy your time with our expert local tour guides.

As home to two of NYC’s most important sites – the Statue of Liberty & the 9/11 Memorial and Museum – Lower Manhattan is high on the priority list of most visitors. Get the most from your time in the Big Apple on our full-day, Complete Lower Manhattan Tour, a combination of our 9/11 Tour and our Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island tour (but at a lower price), with expert local guides and small groups of only 20 people or fewer.

Our day starts early, at Battery Park. With priority boarding, you’ll be one of the first people aboard one of the first boats to Liberty Island. Snag the best seats for a stunning ride across the water and get to know your guide a little. Once docked, they’ll lead you on a tour of the island and on to the great lady of NYC – the Statue of Liberty. During your guided tour, you’ll enjoy special access to the statue pedestal, allowing you to get closer to the statue than general access visitors. All the better to admire her beauty!

It’s back aboard the ferry then for the short ride to Ellis Island. Here you’ll be particularly grateful for your expert guide as they lead you through the immigration process undergone by 12 million new arrivals. Walk the Stairs of Separation and get a feel for how it must have felt for lovers and families as they awaited their fate – and the start of a new life in the land of the free.

Your guide will walk you through the fantastic exhibits of the Ellis Island Museum, answering any questions you may have. This is where the first part of your tour ends, and with 2-2.5 hours before the next leg of our Lower Manhattan journey, you have plenty of time to spare. Spend a little while more on Ellis Island if you like, before hopping on the ferry back to Battery Park (included in the price) and getting lunch on your way to the meeting point for our afternoon activity – a complete 9/11 tour.

Rather than just visiting the memorial and museum, we want to offer you a full picture of what happened on that terrible day from a local perspective. With a local guide on hand you’ll learn how it impacted the community (and the rest of the world), and how hard NYC fought to get back on its feet.

With that in mind, we start not at the 9/11 Memorial itself, but at St. Paul’s Chapel. This is where people gathered after the attack to await news of their loved ones, to mourn, pray and offer support. The walls here are still covered in touching handmade memorials, reminding visitors that 9/11 wasn’t just a huge global and political event, but a crippling personal tragedy for thousands of New Yorkers.

Next we’ll visit Brookfield Place (previously known as the World Financial Center) where you’ll learn about the massive economic effects that the 9/11 attacks had. We’ll see the Eleven Tears Memorial, a touching and personal memorial, which commemorates the 11 American Express employees that died in 9/11; plus the stunning Winter Garden atrium.

Your guide will take you next to the official 9/11 Memorial and the two Memorial Pools, each one built in the footprint of one of the towers and inscribed with the names of victims. You’ll visit the Fireman’s Memorial and learn of the endless courage of those who worked around the clock for days to save the victims of the attack – often at the cost of their own lives. The Survivor Tree is another poignant site you may have missed on your own. Don’t worry, with our expert local guides on hand, you won’t miss a beat.

The last site on our tour, the 9/11 Memorial Museum, is wonderfully curated, with artifacts salvaged from the attack and harrowing personal stories. We’ve found that it’s best to visit on your own, as the displays can be quite emotional, but do we have a parting gift. We’ve pre-reserved your tickets so you don’t have to waste time waiting in lines here.

With all the details taken care of throughout the day, our Lower Manhattan Tour takes the hassle out of navigating NYC’s two busiest attractions. And with small groups and an expert local guide, you’re guaranteed to get so much more from these special experiences.

• Please note that guests will need to pass through airport style security to enter the 9/11 Museum. Certain items are not permitted in the Museum and such items will be confiscated and will not be returned. Please refer to 9/11 Museum's guidelines on specific prohibited items.
• Museum entry is at 5pm and non-guided. An average visit takes approximately two hours.
