Description

from Wicked
Winner of over 50 major awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards®, WICKED is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” Wicked has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of Wicked, Broadway really would be a magical place.”

Declared “The Best Musical of the Decade” by Entertainment Weekly and “A Cultural Phenomenon” by Variety, WICKED is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

This show is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes (1 intermission). Recommended for ages 8 years and up. Children under 5 years will not be permitted in the theatre.

I have seen this musical 3 times in Toronto and when we booked our trip to New York, I knew that I HAD to see it on Broadway! It exceeded my expectations! An incredible show! Wonderful acting, singing, sets, music, costumes, lighting....all of it! I cried during "Defying Gravity" and I was soooo sad when the show was over! The signature drinks are way too expensive ($32 for 2 drinks) but they were delicious and they come in souvenir cups. The bartender was also very friendly and entertaining.

This show portrays the wicked witch of OZ before she was bad. I laughed and thought the show was outstanding. Highly recommend. People were dressed in comfortable clothing. We went to matinee and would suggest dress casual.

My husband and I booked this before we left to go to New York as there were so many choices but we had one of the best nights watching this show. So professional and very funny at times. Music fantastic and the story line was really good, so pleased we went to see it. The Theatre itself was lovely and the seating was comfortable, it really was a great night. I would really recommend this show to anyone who likes musicals.

I took my teen daughter and her friend to see this show on our visit to NYC. We all LOVED it. The girls commented that they didn't know what to expect (not having been to a broadway performance before), but they were so surprised at how much they enjoyed the show. It was funny and heartwarming and filled with such amazing talent.
