Winner of over 50 major awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards®,WICKED is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. The production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

I saw this show with my daughter for her birthday and we had a wonderful time. The performance is outstanding and the storyline is great. I don't want to spoil the plot, but this show is a must see.

I have always wanted to go to a Broadway show and was so excited to get to see this one. It was excellent. We had great seats. I took my mom and we both loved it. If I had one complaint it would be the fact that it only has a short intermission and the bathroom lines at the ladies room meant I skipped it. It was well worth the money.

We went on a Friday night. Our seats were in the center mezzanine in row F. (Side note: I wished I had purchased a bit closer as we were sitting behind two people who had put their hair up in HUGE buns.) lesson learned. On to the show! We truly loved the show. The vocals were amazing. GA-Lin-da😉 stole the show in my opinion. We only had time to see one show and I'm glad we picked Wicked.

"Act 1 is great, gets really sappy in Act 2"

First, you should know that I am not a musical enthusiast. I like musicals that either have a great story (think "Sound of Music") or that are visually spectacular (think "Lion King"). As for Wicked, I hope the book is better. This play smacks of a high school musical, plot-wise. The singing and acting is exceptional (the performers are VERY talented), the comedic timing is pretty good, and the staging has some very visually engaging moments. But the story misses the mark, gets super-sappy and not at all credible by the second act, and even sort of ruins some of the better loved characters in the original Wizard of Oz with creepy backstories. The songs are largely forgettable. I was regretting the amount of money I spent on tickets for a family of 4 by the second act. If you are not a musical enthusiast, buy the cheap seats or see something else. If you love musicals and can stand the cheese, you'll like it.
