Description

from Wicked
Winner of over 50 major awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards®, WICKED is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” Wicked has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of Wicked, Broadway really would be a magical place.”

Declared “The Best Musical of the Decade” by Entertainment Weekly and “A Cultural Phenomenon” by Variety, WICKED is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

This show is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes (1 intermission). Recommended for ages 8 years and up. Children under 5 years will not be permitted in the theatre.

I have never been a person big on musicals so I was a little apprehensive of spending the money to attend the show. This was the perfect choice. My husband and I loved it, and really, that is saying so much! The performers were great and the story line was awesome. Only the daiquiris were horrible, with coconut rum and $17 each.

This musical was incredible! The understudy was in for the main character and I couldn’t imagine anyone doing better than she did. It was funny and witty and the singing just blew us away. I’ll need to see this one again!

Fabulous, fabulous! The Gershwin with it’s magical history adorning the walls and cases is just the beginning. The performance was spectacular. The quality of the actors, the set the costumes . . .truly theatre at it’s best! Thank you for a wonderful night on THE town! Pre-ordering drinks for intermission works very well though restrooms are nearly impossible at intermission, for women that it is :)

This play was simply magnificent, I came with extremely high expectations of it, and when that happens it is easy to be let down. This however went above my expectations. It made me laugh, think, and almost cry. It is beautiful and so worth it. I recommend it for every single one out there.

"Best musical to experience while in New York"

My all time favorite musical EVER! I highly recommend this show if you happen to be in New York. We were seated in the nose bleed area but still was able to enjoy the musical clearly without having to use the binocular. In my opinion, the seating arrangement were all excellent. We were so enraptured with the story lines and singing and was so sad that it ended. My nieces were singing the songs for days. It's well worth the money. The whole experience was magical.
