Description

from School of Rock
Based on the hit film, School of Rock follows Dewey Finn (Alex Brightman in what The Hollywood Reporter calls “a hilarious, star-making performance”). A failed, wannabe rock star, Dewey decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out? While teaching these pint-sized prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school’s beautiful, but uptight headmistress, helping her rediscover the wild child within.

This high-octane smash delivers face-melting guitar riffs performed live by an incredibly talented cast of youngsters and touching romance in equally awesome doses! Featuring 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and all the original songs from the movie, School of Rock is a full-throttle tribute to the power of music. The Huffington Post raves, “Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new musical blows the roof off the theater!” and Time Out New York cheers, “School’s in – FOREVER!”

“For those about to love School of Rock, we salute you!” (Time Out New York). This hit Broadway musical is a New York Times Critics’ Pick and “an inspiring jolt of energy, joy and mad skillz!” (Entertainment Weekly). Reuters raves ”Andrew Lloyd Webber has Broadway rocking!”

This show is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes (1 intermission). Recommended for ages 8 years and up.

Visited NYC for the first time and knew we had to see a broadway musical. We spontaneously purchased discount tickets at the TKTS booth just hours prior. School of Rock and the cast did not disappoint. Enjoyed by all ages in our group (16, 27, 28 and 50). Thrilled we choose this show!

Let me start off by saying that I am a HUGE fan of Andrew Lloyd Weber's works. School of Rock quickly climbed to the top of my favorites by him! I saw it 4 times on Broadway. Twice with my hubby, once with 3 of my grand kids and once with one of my daughters. EVERYONE I brought to this show, LOVED it! You would be able to bring kids as young as 9 I think. We loved seeing it and are sad to see it going off Broadway.

Tons of energy, fabulous singing, better priced than many of the other musicals (ie cheaper). In short a great and truly entertaining deal. They are closing January 20th, do hurry up, you have just one more week to see this musical.
