Based on the critically acclaimed movie, Groundhog Day tells the tale of Phil Connors, a weatherman who seems to be stuck in the same day in small town America. Over and over he relives this specific day with no consequences or tomorrows. That is until he meets an associate TV producer Rita Hanson. Now, Phil realizes each day is filled with promise and the hope of tomorrow.

from Groundhog Day
Groundhog Day is the story of Phil Connors, a cynical Pittsburgh TV weatherman who is sent to cover the annual Groundhog Day event in Punxsutawney, PA, when he finds himself caught in a time loop, forced to repeat the same day again and again…and again — with no consequences, no regrets, no tomorrows, and no hangovers. But once he starts getting to know associate TV producer Rita Hanson, he discovers it’s a day of second, third and fourth chances. As each day plays out exactly the same as before Phil becomes increasingly despondent, but is there a lesson to be learned through his experiences, will he ever unlock the secret and break the cycle?

The 1993 Columbia Pictures film, with a screenplay by Danny Rubin and Harold Ramis, based on a story by Rubin, and directed by Ramis, starred Bill Murray. Now widely regarded as a contemporary classic, Groundhog Day was cited by the Writers Guild of America as one of the 101 Greatest Screenplays ever written and in 2000 was voted by readers of Total Film as one of the ten best comedies of all time.

The performance is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes with one intermission.

Groundhog Day may be inappropriate for children ages 12 and under. Please use your discretion when purchasing tickets. Children under the age of 5 will not be admitted into the theater.

"Amusing musical"

Andy Karl’s performance was well-worth the time & money we invested. The musical is fast-paced. So, even though there’s some repetition by reliving Groundhog’s Day many times over, it’s done in such a quick and clever way that keeps it fresh & funny each time. Although the songs were solidly sung they’re not particularly memorable. Honestly, I didn’t expect them to be. The performances were flawless and really make the show. The script works well and there’s plenty of humor peppered throughout the musical. The theater itself, is nothing special. Seats are cramped. Orchestra level seats aren’t the best (not enough elevation between rows). You’ll have to crane your neck to see the stage if tall individuals are in front of you.

"Sarcasm of the highest quality"

This satirical musical, filled with sharp humoristic lines keeps you laughing all the way through. We went last-minute (5 minutes before opening time) and were able to buy pretty great seats for 50 dollars each. The moving stage while the time stops running is irony in itself and gives a fantastic special effect to the show. Enjoyed it very much. Expected it to be much more about the groundhog and was glad to find out it wasn't.

It was slick, funny, emotional, skilled, well acted and it really drew us in. We were in awe of the skills of the cast. It was not schmaltzy thank goodness. The whole family (12-59) loved it. A delight. Would see it again if it is on in our home town.
