from Anastasia
Based on the 1997 animated film, the romantic and adventure-filled new musical Anastasia comes to Broadway.

This production includes a new score from the Tony-winning team behind Ragtime, Once On This Island and Seussical—Ahrens and Flaherty—along with the film’s classic songs, including the Oscar-nominated “Journey to the Past.”

This dazzling show transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love, and family.Anastasia features a book by celebrated playwright Terrence McNally, a lush, new score by Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics), and direction by Tony Award® winner Darko Tresnjak. As The Wall Street Journal raves, “Fantastical, intelligent, well-crafted, exhilarating and full of surprises, it deserves a coronation. Anastasia is the real thing.”

"Broadway’s Anastasia - Amazing!"

Went with my teenage daughter to the show, and can’t rave enough about it! She could relate to the storyline because of the famous Disney animated film. We both loved it. Try to buy seats during Broadway Week where you could get 2 for the price of 1. Get a closer seat to the stage - worth the extra $.

I have to admit that I am not a great fan of musicals, but I would heartily recommend this show to anyone. The story and acting were well done as was the orchestra. There is a lot of stair to get to the bathrooms, and the seats are a little tight, but this is fairly normal at most venues.

This was in a small and exquisite theatre. We sat 3rd row Mezzanine. Excellent seats. The costumes and staging were fantastic. The voices strong and beautiful. The dancing great too. Loved the songs. I could have walked right back in and watched it again. Advice purchase tickets at theatre box office and save on all the fees. It was fun meeting the cast outside afterwards. They took the time to sign autographs and take pictures. Highly recommend this musical!

"Of the three shows we saw, Anastasia was our favorite!"

Our initial impetus for our spring-break trip to NYC was to see the premier of Frozen. We then got tickets to School of Rock, since my wife and I had seen it in London and loved it there. Getting tickets to Anastasia for our family of three (including a 14-year-old daughter) was almost an afterthought, given all of the other excellent shows on Broadway...but it was our favorite show of the three. It departs from the movie in several significant ways, but they add some immediacy to the story and make it more...human, I guess. The music and songs are amazing, and the casting was spot-on. We can't wait for this show to hit the road so we can catch it again!
