I stay in NYC hotels frequently - usually just look for the best deals in the parts of town I need to be in. But for $200+ a night, one would assume you'd have some niceties, like a vacuumed carpet, a window, a dresser with working drawers, and floor lamps that don't have to lean against a wall for support. You'd also expect something maybe a bit bigger than 8' x 15'. And if you're lucky, you'll have a front desk staff that is even slightly receptive to the challenges you're having with the room - like for instance, that the photos on the website are quite clearly from an entirely different hotel or perhaps a future fantasy version of the hotel you're in. Stay far away.

Prior to booking this hotel I had read almost all of the most recent reviews. Some were horrible. Some were ok. Well here is mine. First location is AWESOME. There are so many restaurants, bars, cofree shops and all kinds of places to shop at. Literally a two block walk to Broadway and a few blocks up is Times Square. Yes there is construction going on across the street but not all night or extra early. I came back to the hotel after midnight and it was just normal "city" noise. So the other complaints I saw were about the rooms. I have a petite room on the second floor in the corner. The windows open so you can hear the day construction. However closed it is minimal. The room is small, yes small but u can fit two people in this room. With organization it can work. Can accommodate two decent sized suitcases and any overnight bags. Small desk and chair. Private bathroom with walk in shower - bathroom is very small - one person at a time. The overall room was clean and decent. No weird smells or smoke smells. The AC is a electric wall unit and very quiet. The heat works via the radiator so time he room is a good temp. The carpet is clean - not sticky. The beds firms. Pillows soft n fluffy. Of course there are minor cosmetic imperfections but nothing that outweighs the good parts. I picked this hotel last minute and I am enjoying my stay.

I love old buildings like this! The lobby is nice and welcoming. Raphael was great! He carted luggage around for us and valeted the car for us...he had a nice sense of humour. Unfortunately, I did not get the gentleman behind the counter's name. he was the day shift and was very personable; a pleasure to deal with. The room was a little smaller than I expected...we had to set the luggage rack in the bathroom. If we set it up in the room, we would have had to climb over the bed to get around! On the other hand, the bathroom was certainly large enough to set the luggage rack up and still have plenty of room to move! We had 2 windows in the bedroom portion and a third on in the bathroom so lots of light. The air conditioning/heating worked perfectly. We ended up with a couple of days in the 70's (in NOVEMBER!!) with cool nights so we used both. The bed was pretty hard but okay for. a couple of nights. Other than the occasional siren...I didn't find the noise to be too bad. The parking is expensive. The hotel is conveniently located so I imagine the parking in the area would be very expensive. They let us leave our car there even after we checked out so we could visit a couple of attractions before we left so I'm okay with that. The only thing that marred our visit was a confrontation in the lobby between two staff members. They know who they are. It was quite unpleasant and there were several hotel guests in the lobby when this occurred. It happened because the radio/walkie-talkie handhelds were not working properly. I would have been fired from my job had I spoken to a co-worker like that. All in all - it was a good visit and we would be likely to return.

I’m the kind of person who tends to visit the same places, the same shops, the same everything, especially when I am very well welcomed. And this time it wasn’t diffferemt at all. I decided to stay in the same hotel because I knew how friendly and helpful the staff was and, although simple, the accommodation is just what a i need. I don’t need hotels with swimming pool, I’m on vacation for Christ sake... I can’t complain about anything whatsoever. So, once more, if you’re looking for a well-located hotel, far from the crowds of Times Square, this is the right place. Close to lots o subways stations and nice Thai and Indian restaurants. I’m definitely staying there again next year.
