The hotel was ok! Clean goodish location if you are looking to stay near Time Square, & traffic isn’t too heavy right outside the hotel yet u can hear it from 8th Ave esp on a morning! Walls are quite thin so sometimes you can hear other in their rooms but we mainly had a problem with people coming in at the early hours banging every door going & shouting at each other as they came in (when I say shouting, I thought they were having a argument in my room not other side of the door!! The beds were literally just OK, one when we first arrived was soooooo hard even I who likes sold beds couldn’t sleep on it, when we mentioned this to reception the mattress was changed yet when they did this they managed to knock every last thing off the dressing table, they placed somethings back but we found other things on the floor when we returned that same night I realised my small make up bag I carry all my memory cards for my DSLR camera in was missing & I had left it on the table before leaving for the day under another bag! Spoke to reception & they were NOT helpful at all just said it wasn’t there fault & could have been knocked off into a bin or laundry bag, weren’t even prepared to ask the cleaners or the people who moved the mattress if they’d seen the bag! Did go on one of the hotel groups walking tours & I could not fault it at all, it was a great tour & was great to hear the knowledge of local area from a local themselves a great freebie & wish we’d done more of them! Some of the reception staff were lovely & extremely helpful pointing us in the right direction for places to eat & printing out a transport voucher for us & a very helpful door men too so lovely! Yet there are some reception staff who are just RUDE I asked if they could possibly print out my boarding pass for my flight, yet printed two of the same pass yet I had sent them two separate unlinked email, the young lady could not print out the 2nd email, & kept saying I’d sent the same email twice, which I HAD NOT, she showed me printing the emails & I said no you’ve just chucked on same one & printed the same email it’s the one below, no it’s not i’ve Printed that one, I had to interrupt Her talking to other members of staff & from what I heard the conversation wasn’t about work at all, I did finally get both passes printed thank goodness!! While at the desk I had to raise my voice to tell her she had clicked on the wrong one but she Continued to speak to me as if it was my fault, it’s a good job this was while I was waiting for my ride to the airport & not any earlier in the stay! This was my 7th trip to NYC & the FIRST EVER time I have experience hotel staff as RUDE as this!! I think some of the staff need re-training for customers service & using a computer! Or maybe think of putting a very small Business suite/area for people to print out boarding passes etc Also every time we left the hotel there were guests smoking directly outside the doors, which for someone like my self who is Asthmatic can be potentially dangerous! Don’t think I will be back anytime soon! This hotel was NOT worth what we paid for it! Only saving grace was it was clean!

"Worth booking at the Washington Jefferson Hotel in New York"

HI, As I was coming out from the metro str. 47/8 I had to walk two blocks? Two blocks in Toronto means lots of walking but here within five minutes on my right 51st. the hotel was there. Left the luggage and walked out towards Times Square I was amazed the second time how close I was. On my lost day walked north towards Central Park very slow, watching the people in rush for work, beautiful sonny day less then 30 minutes. I did not booked with breakfast included as I do not eat that early preferable late so I can not comment on that. On the TA I was advise the best way to see New York is to use the Metro because of traffic, even I was advise not to take the Hop on/off buss as wasting time on the road due to the traffic. I decided to buy 2 days tickets and was the best thing I did. Yes, maybe the buss was not speeding but enough to admire and see left/right all the high rises bldg, architecture, colors, people etc., One day won't be enough because if you have to get off to one of the stop like I did a the Empire State the lines ups are long takes time so buying for 2 days was a good choice. New York is a must see city, affordable with the exception the prices of the hotels. I do suggest to see this mega city where you can find anything you want to entertain yourself. Thank you.

Fine lodging for the price. Not too fancy, but situated in a quieter residential area that's still walking distance to Broadway theatres and Times Square. For additional room, request the king bed; requesting a single bed will feel like staying in a broom closet. Plenty of nearby restaurants.

"Great location but depressing room"

Stayed at the WJ last Thursday night. The hotel is in a very good location in Hells Kitchen but the 80 square foot room felt like a prison cell with a bathroom. Had trouble washing my face as the tiny sink was squeezed in between the shower and the wall. I have stayed in a larger room at the hotel in the past and the staff is very friendly so I have mixed feelings about the hotel.

I stayed for 6 night 7 days on a business trip. It’s a 5 mins walk from Times Square. Hence very nice location. Room was super small. Loads of eating options near the Hotel. Overall a decent experience.
