"Not up to the W standard....at all"

I normally don't complain about my stays (and there are a lot of them as a platinum member) but I thought feedback needed to be given to the W Times Square. I've always had a great time at W hotels, regularly get upgraded even to WOW level suites. I expected a lot from this stay as I was relocating to NYC from Denver and living in the hotel for 14 days (at almost $400/day!). Unfortunately it was downhill from the start, the room they initially put me in was small and a low floor. They tried to upgrade me to a "VP suite" immediately at a cost of $100/day (discounted they said from $200), I would have to pay out of pocket though so it wasn't worth it and I assumed it wasn't part of the standard suite upgrades I receive complementary since it was a "named suite". After calling the Starwood Platinum line they talked the hotel down to $50/night, given the state of the current room I relented and was soon to be disappointed again to find out it wasn't a named suite at all, but a regular Marvelous suite. The view was great but the rest was in sad shape: the baseboard molding was crumbing, the bed squeaked loudly, several of the tiles in the bathroom had almost no grout and were rocking, the windows were dirty, etc, etc. Other disappointing parts of the stay: lack of any recognition for my special occasion, the attempt to charge me $50 for borrowing a standard HDMI cord, being charged $7.50 to have a small package delivered (2x), could hear every horn honk even on the 51st floor, not reimbursing me $150 of my laundry credit, overcharging me by 10 days for the occupancy and tourism tax (I had to discover the last two on my own after turning the bill into a 165 row spreadsheet and then dealing with the Accounting department for 10 days). I understand things operate a little differently in NYC, not a good start to my move and the end to my enjoyment of the W brand.

"Very Poor Experience"

Cannot fault the location. Amazingly located right in Times Square. The bed and bath really comfortable and good with friendly staff, but that is really where the positives end. Put in a room which had an adjoining room where you could basically hear every single sound coming from next door, which included loud moaning. Dark corridors that made the hotel feel like something to match the sounds coming from the adjoining room. A Motel would have been quieter. Breakfast in room was very pricey for what it is with very limited selection. Basically eggs or pancakes or muffins. Maybe was bad luck with the room but would certainly thing again before returning as did not live us to the W brand.

"Peaceful sleep high above it all"

Just came home from a 3 night stay on the 41rst floor. We live in a big city already, so I don't have much time for people saying you can hear the street below. Of course, you can. It's the middle of New York. And, really, the sounds are quite muffled and the room is peaceful and quiet. A super comfy bed and a nice spacious room. The lobby is a bit intense, like you're in the middle of a bar, which you are. But, hey, it's just enough cool for a middle of the road crowd. The front desk staff were so very nice and helpful. I've read several reviews that don't love the glass shower wall to the bedroom area; you still can see in (kinda) so it's not the nicest thing, but that's a small design quibble. Truly a stellar location that allows you to stay in the heart of Midtown, yet quickly escape for some much needed recharging.....Hey, one thing: the lighting is really low. Maybe think about adding a few more lamps in the rooms on the side of the room where the bed is?

"All about LOCATION!!!"

Location: Its supreme location in the heart of midtown Manhattan, around 10 steps from the hotel you will reach Times Square! Very convenient. Also, closed to Radio City Music Hall, MOMA, tons of shopping boxes and subway. Room: My twin-bedded room is just OK, not that large. I got a room on 18th Floor which is high enough not to hear a busy noise from Times Square. I love their W bed signature, so comfy. The room décor is chic and hip follow W’s DNA. Facility: Lobby is quite small same as Living room. I had to pay $25 per day for destination fee and it turned to be a credit at a living room but I cannot enjoy it as it was so crowded every day there. As a SPG member, I got a free WIFI which is a plus. I also enjoy an SPG keyless which I could check-in and select my room via my IPhone. Staff: I have a problem with front office staffs there, but it was brought to attention of GM and it was resolved so I appreciated and will not write about this. I do hope for next visit, I will have a good experience with them. Concierge: Very helpful, they greeted us every time when in-out from the hotel and helped us to call a cap to JFK. I will try again for next year visit!

Room was spacious, you could hear quite a lot of noise from outside, however you are in Times Square so was not surprised. Room was comfortable and clean. Facilities were very good and service always efficient.
