"Nice hotel, SUPERB STAFF!"

Many thanks to the staff at the Residence Inn for another great stay. To say that Miguel, Patsy, Sam and the other members of the team went above and beyond is an understatement. My siblings and I have stayed at this hotel a few times over the last few months while our mother has been a patient at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. First I must commend the staff on their flexibility assisting me with many last minute changes, extensions and sometimes cancellations on the multiple rooms that I book when we are in NYC. They have been extremely accommodating and helpful during very stressful times. I am a platinum member but they have gone far above and beyond to help us on many occasions. They make it very easy for us so that we can focus on my Mom and not worry about the stress of the sometimes sudden changes to hotel accommodation changes. I would also like to recognize and thank Carlos in the breakfast area. He always makes sure the guests are well cared for. He always has a smile on his face and is buzzing around the breakfast area checking on everyone and keeping the place in tip top shape. They put on a very nice free breakfast for the guests in this hotel with a pretty decent variety. The hotel is nice, very clean and the rooms have always been in excellent condition and very comfortable. Everyone is so kind and helpful. The bell staff are always quick to run out and make sure we have assistance grabbing a taxi or whatever we need. I cant thank them all enough. My only suggestion, which is minor.. is that I really wish they would install usb plugs in the rooms. Other than that they have everything one could need for a comfortable stay. The rooms are much nicer than the Marriott next door which used to be our first choice when staying in the city but the Residence Inn has taken the lead.

"My new NYC “go to” I wish I could give it 6 stars"

I have never stayed at a hotel where people have been as friendly and accommodating. prior to my stay I got a personalized email from the hotel manager , after we checked out we got another email. I travel for work frequently and have stayed in many high end hotels for conferences, etc. But I have never seen staff this happy. As per the other reviews, it’s almost like they are faking it they are so pleasant. I had a Whole Foods order pre-ordered and delivered to the front desk. The staff brought it up to our room before we arrived. Rooms are spacious, especially for NYC. We stayed in the smallest room (studio no sleeper sofa) because it was just my husband and I , and it was very nice. Would get a larger suite when the kids return with us. Full kitchen is amazing. We are healthy eaters and like to bring certain things to hotel. The only thing that is small is the hallways that are a little tight but that doesn’t impact my impression of the hotel. Great fitness center downstairs, complimentary breakfast, great coffee central location a short walk to Grand Central Station and super reasonable rate . I have found my NYC go to hotel!!

Our family (4 people) spent one week there, in very comfortable and clean rooms, with the facility of a kitchen inside, and dealing with a really kind and atentive staff - a special mention to Carlos, in the restaurant. The included breakfast is an important point and also the excellent location.

"Staff, Location, Room size, Staff (did I mention the staff)"

OK - where to begin. We visited the property for 4 days so I had the opportunity to engage pretty much the entire front end staff - as well as breakfast, security and housekeeping staff as well. 1. The staff - all of them - are either faking it (at a Academy award winning level) or they truly love their job and have been provided excellent customer experience training. Miguel, Charlie, Greg (and many others) are all true professionals and excel at their job. Met to many housekeepers to name them all - and all of them were extremely pleasant and engaging. 2. The location. Perfect. E 48th St is close to everything (a little bit of a walk to the E Train at Lexington/53rd or to other trains at 42nd Grand Central), but plenty nearby and a short walk to Madison and 5th Ave shopping. It is quieter than other hotel locations nearby....48th is not that noisy (still noisy...but not as noisy). 3. Hotel and Room. Not the tallest hotel in the area (only 18 floors) but they maximize the room space. I challenge you to find another hotel with rooms as large as the rooms here (for the price point). We had a Executive Premium room on the 17th floor and could not have been happier. Plenty of space for me and my son and twin daughters. Everything in the room worked perfectly - and the room looked new (even though I know the hotel has a ton of traffic). 4. Breakfast is chaos - but well managed (always busy but there is always food). Be forewarned that food ceases at 0930am - sharp!). 5. Next-Level-Customer-Service. Greg had the staff sign a nice Happy Birthday card for my twins and included 2 cupcakes - and that was such a surprise for the girls when they walked in the room upon check-in. Also, rain came on Saturday and the hotel loaned us a umbrella. Again - nice gestures that will bring me back time and time again. A couple of things for those staying here: 1. Ensure that your room windows are completely closed (the twist locks are sometimes a bit have to push UP on the top portion of the window sometimes) - but once you completely secure the window, the road noise is blocked. Horns and sirens are a part of the City lifestyle - but if the windows are not completely closed/secured, you will hear more noise that necessary. 2. Executive Premium sleeping options. See my pics. You can sleep four teens comfortably, but the actual fold-out couch is very small (kids only)....but the extended couch return directly next to the pull out - the hotel was kind enough to provide an extra blanket and pillow - and they actually made up that portion of the couch - so 1 teen on the pull out couch and 1 on the couch. You also have a small pull out bed in the bedroom chair (see pic) and again the hotel is very forward leaning and provided a sheet, blanket and pillow for that pull out (and actually made it up as well), so my son slept on that - and I took the entire King bed to myself (Dad of the year!!!). So, there is plenty of sleeping options in the Executive Premium room (plus an extra bathroom). 3. The A/C thermostat in the Executive Premium bedroom requires a nuclear physics degree to figure it out. Seriously the most confusing thermostat, ever - but once I figured it out - I could get the fan to stay on - constant - and the temp set at my preferred level for the entire stay (instead of on-n-off fan---which is loud - and fluctuating temperature settings). The thermostat in the Executive Premium hallway is a normal thermostat that is simple to use (need to just put those easy Honeywell ones in the bedrooms This is a must stay location - especially if you are traveling with your family. You will not regret staying here and staying here will make your visit to NYC so memorable.
