I booked this hotel to gather family from CA, VA and Vietnam together for Christmas in NYC. Had a family connector suite of 2 rooms with 2 doubles to accommodate 3 adults and 4 teens. Five days before the trip, I called to confirm the reservation and was put on hold for 72 minutes (timer on my phone) then disconnected. My family connector suite was cancelled and they split my reservation into 2 rooms with 2 doubles with a “request” for connecting rooms. When I called back, I was told that single reservations for 2 rooms get split into 2 reservations automatically by the system. Fine, as long as they understand I’m not about to let 4 tweens-teens loose in NYC after the reviews I read about the subway terror attempt and false fire alarms in this hotel. Night before arrival, I did mobile check in indicating 11am arrival and again, stressed the need for connector rooms due to the minors. We arrived at 10:52 and were in line until 11:54 only to be told our rooms were not ready, no upgrades are available, and that we would get a call when we could pick up the keys. Gave bellman our last few pieces of luggage, went to lunch and returned after 2:20 to see if we could access the Concierge lounge for water or drinks while we waited for the key pickup call. Was told lounge is closed until 5pm on Sunday but that the hotel opened up Gold and Platinum Elite member access to lift the 1+1 Guest restriction so that our family could all enjoy the lounge benefits together. She completed check in for us with keys and explained our room rate privileges while one of us retrieved luggage. When she did the final check, she realized our rooms were not connector rooms. Back went the luggage to store (we are tipping at every interaction with bellmen). She told us we didn’t need to stand in the Elite/Mobile line, just come to shorter pick up key line. Now past 3pm, we are all tired and just waiting in seating areas, phone battery depleting... At 4, after no phone call and 8% battery left on one phone, we split up our party and stood in 2 lines to see who would be helped first because the lines were worse than Disney during spring break! Briana was completely robotic with the check in process and refused to accept that we were told all of us had access to the Concierge level services during the 2:30 “check in.” She called a “manager” Kristin over who repeated the same 1+1 message, which contradicts the printed page message that states our GuestS (with an S) are granted access. Kristin said we could attempt to “pass the one white key between our party to get all 7 of us from 2 room bookings access.” That’s the welcome to Marriott Marquis Times Square for lifetime Gold Elite members. I rarely leave comments, so this serves to allow me to vent and hopefully enjoy the rest of this trip with my family as we booked here for 3 nights.

My better half and I stayed for a Saturday night at this hotel. Can't beat the location which is right in Times Square and a short walk to many Broadway plays. My only recommendation is to be ready for lines at all elevators because it's a busy hotel in the holiday season

"Great location/Too big for any kind of personalized service"

We were here last week for a conference. This is definitely the biggest place I've ever stayed. The location was fantastic...right in the middle of Times Square & convenient to Broadway/Rockefeller Center/Radio City Music Hall. My wife had a great time playing tourist while I attended the conference. The room was fine...nothing special, except the great view of Times Square. The fitness center was awesome. The elevators are confusing, until you get the hang of them. No one on the staff was ever rude, but the place is simply too big for any type of personalized service. The "front desk" (on the 8th floor) is such a bustling place of activity, that it's hard to talk to a human about anything (takes 5 minutes in line to get to someone). Once, when the elevators were seemingly malfunctioning, someone called on the house phone, and was told to keep pushing the buttons, that they'd eventually start working again. This wasn't a deal-breaker for us, & we'd likely stay here again

My family and I went to New York in september and we stayed at this hotel. It is a Marriott hotel so you know it's fine. It is right in the middle of Times Square, so you won't find a better location. The hotel is clean, the rooms are perfect and the staff was great. I would suggest this hotel to anybody visiting New York City.
