"Perfect room for two"
May, 2015
We showed up early before our room was ready so they held our bags for us while we explored New York and then called me when our room was ready. They actually got our room ready 2 hours before our check in time but let us check in early which was so nice! The room was perfect for two people and the New York traffic was barley existent while we were in our room which was very wonderful. The bed was so comfortable and the bathtub was deep and big enough for a romantic bubble bath with a glass of wine and chocolate covered strawberries from the shop down the street. It was such a wonderful stay and we are looking to stay there again on our next visit.
Tip: take a cork screw for wine

Lovey old building, dated, but that's its charm. If you want to be located right close to the center, then there is no place better. Right by 5th and St Patricks Cathedral. Small as well, I think there are only 25 rooms. Free wifi a plus as well as the coffee maker which you don't usually get in other US hotels. Staff very pleasant and courteous.

This was the last night of our holidays and we decided to push the boat out and was singularly unimpressed. Room I had was tired and in need of redecoration. There was a wedding on and there was no access to the bar and lounge. All in all left with the feeling I was a number rather than a guest. Will never repeat my visit here. On the plus side the staff were courteous. The location is great but I'd rather go to the hotel we had for the first part of our holiday on 71st street.

To find this small hotel just go to St. Patrick's Cathedral and cross Fifth Avenue. The building is under Historic Preservation but the rooms have good beds and all the requirements of a small hotel. One must visit the beautiful living rooms, the ballroom and paneled library. A meal in the restaurant is a MUST. The service and food are excellent as are the drinks available from the bar. There is a deli nearby for the cost conscious.

"Very nice historic hotel"

Spent a few days which included a winter storm. Location is amazing, next to Rockefeller Plaza and many businesses and restaurants. Room was too warm the first night, but that was solved by contacting the front desk. They sent someone who helped me adjust the heater. The Hotel is historic, and there is a certain charm to staying here. Bathroom is modern and renovated. Employees are very friendly. Ryan from the front desk, was super nice! Thanks Ryan for making our stay really pleasant. He went out of his way to help us find restaurants around the hotel that were open late hours. And was simply a great guy. I will definitely keep coming back.

"Great Location to walk to Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall"

This hotel is nestled among many businesses on 51st street, literally kitty corner from St. Patrick's Cathedral, which we could see out our hotel window. It is across the street from Radio City Music Hall. Around the corner is Rockefeller Center and NBC Studios. Down about 7 blocks is Times Square and Broadway Shows. Around the corner is subway. A few doors down is a pizza and bagel shop, a few blocks walk is Ess-A Bagel, a mile walk is Central Park. Duane Reade 24 Drugstore on next block for any needs. So location great. Hotel is very old, so if you are expecting or demand new and shiny, this is not for you. Our room had two twin beds, which I chose, as my hubby snores! I felt there was too much furniture in the room for it's small size. There is a large dresser, two large nightstands, a chair, and a desk. Remove the dresser and put it into the closet and move the beds farther apart and remove a nightstand and it would open up the room much better. Closet was very large. Bathroom sink had no counter. Water pressure so-so. Rooms very noisy, as the hallway is all hard surfaces so no carpet to absorb sounds. The doors are opened with an actual key! The doors close very loudly. It is small hotel, with something like 49 rooms. Two elevators. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. We were even allowed to check in early. They provide a bottle of water with a sign that says to to enjoy, but then states they will charge you $4 for the water. Small Mr. Coffee machine provided. Be aware that some of the outlets operate by turning on a switch, so if you can't get the light or outlet to work, turn on the switch by the door. Bedding nice and cozy, pillows a little soft. Room very warm; we had to open window to keep from being so stuffy. Would consider staying there again for the great location.
