We booked our 1 day bus tour to Downtown via Groupon. The price for two was a very reasonable $35.00. I had read reviews that stated you were treated differently if you purchased directly through the website instead of Groupon. We did not find this to be the case. We got to their box office (next door to Ripley's Believe it or Not) a little after 8:00 on Friday morning and had our tickets for the bus by 8:15. We went to the designated bus stop and were picked up within 5 minutes. I think the advice here is to go early in the morning. We had a fairly good tour guide for the first part of our ride. An older gentleman who seemed to know his city well. We got off near the World Trade Center and so far the tour rated a very very good. We got back on the bus and were greeted to a new tour guide who we nicknamed "mumbles". We couldn't understand him between the fast pace of his narrative and his lack of enunciation. We got off the bus near Chinatown and Little Italy for lunch. The guide was correct in that it was a 7 block walk to Little Italy. This was through Chinatown but we were glad we took the stroll and had a nice lunch, When we got back on the bus we had no guide. We had to rely on a pre-recorded narrative. Not fun at all! Still it was fun being driven around New York City for $17.50, even if I didn't know where we were half of the time. The final act was us getting dropped off because the route ended. We were not at the stop we boarded at and were told we would have to walk over and get another bus. We chose to walk to our hotel instead. All in all it was an okay experience made better by the price!!

We gave this 5 stars mainly because of the flexibility in getting around the city inexpensively plus the ability to see almost all of the main attractions in a city so loaded with main attractions. We had the 3 day pass, took all of the tours riding the bus through each of the whole tours. After that we used the bus for the on/off and managed to get everywhere we wanted to go without using expensive taxi service. We had a couple of excellent tour guides, one that was horrible and another that was really good. During many of the hop on/hop/off trips where we were paying too much attention to the guide, we did notice that several of them weren't very good at all. Overall we feel this was well worth the money, the buses were great, the traffic is terrible and the savings we had in taxi fares more than paid for the bus tour.

"Awful Bus Company - DO NOT USE"

We used this company in Washington DC and and I believe it's part of NYC company. They spoiled our trip in Washington DC as their buses continually broke down, had petrol fume through the bus or they just didn't stop at their stops to pick you up. My husband were so upset as we made sure we were at the stop half an hour before the time due to pick up first thing in the morning and we waited for over an hour for the driver not to stop and collect us. We then walk to the main office and explained what had happened and the driver was there and admitted that he didn't stop. We demanded our money back as this wasn't the first incident, they also cancelled night tours as their buses were broken down, yet we paid $100 US dollars. The manager advised me because I paid cash he couldn't refund my money at the time and told me that he would contact his office and that they would forward a cheque well I've been waiting for a month and a half and I've forwarded several emails to this company without any response. I strongly advise anyone not to use this company as I heard the same problem reoccurring in NYC after speaking to other people. CitySites spoiled our trip in Washington DC as we didn't get to see thing that were on our list. I still expect to be refunded or else I'll continue to put up bad reviews so others won't be effected. I've attached a copy of their note to me.

"choose City Pass, NOT this"

Awful! 3rd visit to NYC...We've done both, CitySights and City Pass-- City Pass is better by far! With City Pass, you're able to eat w/ discount later, ride more with an ACTUAL PERSON touring (not a subpar recording), and the 1 card is your ticket. CitySights requires you to come back to their center each day, stand in line AGAIN to get a voucher for your attraction. Waste of our valuable time. And, not all the attractions listed are included--you have to upgrade. Terrible experience!

"Best way of spending a few hours."

We drove from North Carolina to NY to fly back to Europe from JFK. What to do in NY witha few hours available? You book an open top bus. Took two hours, just perfect. Took us uptown, including Harlem. Great to see things and kudos to our guide who was an extremely knowledgeable person, and was able to tell us this in a understandable way. This was a great time to spend time in NY when you really don't have a lit of time. Recommended!
